Hi everyone, I’ve popped in to share some little updates from my studio over the last few weeks. I can only share so much as I’m still working on some secret things, but one project will be revealed very soon and I can’t wait to show you all! But for now, I’ve compiled some snaps that I took along the way. I hope you like these little random updates while I still decide on what to do with my newsletter ideas. Unfortunately time has not been a friend of mine lately, and other things in life have had to take priority. Let’s catch up…
Packing wholesale and shop orders is always a treat. I’ve gained some new lovely stockists this year, and have been kept busy packing prints, cards and stationery items. Still no time for working on new designs, but I hope that will happen in the coming weeks (I hate to mention it, but Christmas is coming up ‘soon,’ well in the retail world at least!). It has been a hot summer in Ireland (not my favourite weather at all) but despite the weather I had the pleasure to work on a wintry and festive commission that helped cool me down; along with plenty of ice pops; while dreaming of winter landscapes and jolly Santa’s. All will be revealed in the coming months.
I picked my first batch of homegrown blueberries. I started growing these plants last year but the blackbirds ate every single berry! I wasn’t too upset because they deserve a sweet treat too. But, netting was bought for this year’s crop, and luckily everything worked out well. I also left some berries on the plants for the birds, because sharing is caring. I love testing out new ‘breakfast pots’ to make for the weeks when I know I’ll be extra busy in the studio. This week was a healthy take on a trifle. Homemade natural custard with stewed apples and blackberries, and vanilla and flaxseed overnight oats; delicious!
When your sister sends you a surprise care package containing enticing chocolates, it’s going to be a good day. She knows me too well! I bought some French treats to celebrate the end of a very long project. Including BRUIT ≤ on vinyl (I only buy my favourite albums on vinyl, and this is by far one of them - an incredible album). I also bought a range of perfume samples from Oriza L.Legrand, which are historic perfume recipes from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Their packaging is so beautiful too; lots of big ribbons and pretty vintage-style boxes.
Billie….what can I say about this little munchkin? When times are busy and stressful, I just marvel at her nonchalance, it’s quite inspiring and calming. She doesn’t like the hot weather either, and has decided to sleep this summer out. There’s something so magical and emotive about a neon-painted sunset. How can such vibrant colours exist in nature, and for such an achingly fleeting moment? At least a photo makes it last forever.
